The Call of Godby MBGThe working and leading of God in one’s life is a mysterious thing. It is my opinion that we will never know until we are perfected in that latter day just how the Lord has worked to form us. God, in His Sovereignty, has positioned us where we are, made us what we are, placed us when we are in time, fashioned who we are, directed how we should be formed, and given each of us a “why” for our lives. The call of God comes upon all people, Christian or Heathen, in a plea for their soul’s Salvation. God then directs those who have accepted that gift to Service and Sanctification. Salvation is a one-time action, while Service and Sanctification are “full-time” actions. But for this paper let us delve into the matter for those who are called into a special ministry. In comparison to a military, these people would be the officers and the Special Forces. These people are called of God to fulfill a greater ministry while not forsaking the three “S’s” of before. These are called out from among the called. Let us consider a few of the characteristics of this additional call: First of all, this call is irrefutable. It is a voice crying to you to surrender when you have not really considered surrendering before. It is a desire to fulfill a capacity that may not fit into your logic or plan, but you cannot escape it. Those who are called simply know that they are called. No neon lights. No voices from Heaven. They just simply know. God’s call upon your life is irrevocable. God is incapable of mistake, and once you are called you are marked for that service. Run you may, but you cannot out run the Lord. Hide you may, but you cannot hide from His eye. (Psalm 139) Deny it you may, forsake it you may, or ignore it you may, but the fact remains: you have been called. But let us not for a moment believe that regardless of our activity the call remains, for the call is irreparable. Did not many receive the call to the great supper of Luke 14, yet because those first bidden refused others had to be invited? You cannot remove God’s call from your life, but your impenitence may force God to find another to fill not only their position but also that which God has planned for you. Last of all, the calling of God upon your life is irreplaceable.Try all you will, try with all you might, but joy and peace will not come from any other source but from God’s Will for your life (Psalm 16:11). Life has no meaning outside of Christ and His Will. He created Life itself, He created Joy, He created Peace, He created Happiness, He created everything good: so where else can you find all this abundantly than from its source? Reader, please heed to the Spirit’s guidance in your life.It is His duty to lead us into all truth (John 16:13) and is incapable of steering us wrong. Surrender to His Will. Make you life but an instrument upon which the Master may create the most wonderful music ever heard in Earth or Heaven. |
